Carson Young gets First PGA Tour Start

Carson grew up Pendleton playing at Boscobel Golf Course. No-one in his family played golf or knew anything about golf. Starting around the age of 7 or 8 because he didn’t want to play Tennis like the rest of his brothers and family. With dreams of playing at Clemson, he fell in love with the game. Playing his high school career at Pendleton High School his success lead to that dream.

In High School Carson was the SC Jay Haas Junior Player of the year in 2012 where he won the Sage Valley Junior Invitational, The Carolinas Amateur and became a 2-time South Carolina Amateur Champion in 2013 and 2016.

Graduating from Clemson in 2017 with a Marketing degree he turned pro that summer and been a professional ever sense. Since gaining McKenzie Tour (Canadian Tour) status in March of 2020 he has won twice this past year including his first professional win in June 2020.

Those wins put Carson inside the top 3 on the money list for the LocaliQ Tour which got him an exemption into his first PGA event in Puerto Rico. (The LocaliQ was a tour here in the states for the guys who had Canadian Tour and Latin American Tour status but seasons were canceled due to COVID.)

Carson says, “Playing on the PGA Tour has been a dream and goal of mine for as long as I can remember. So playing my first event in Puerto Rico was an amazing experience and I learned a ton from it. Unfortunately missed the cut but helped me realize I can play out there and to stick with the process because it’s just a matter of time. Started working with you because I realized I needed to take care of my body to get stronger and be more in shape to help achieve these goals!
